This is an initiative by the Government of the City of Buenos Aires to raise awareness about the risks of gambling in minors.

Argentina.- Within the framework of the Responsible Gaming promotion actions and awareness of the risks associated with gambling in minors, the City Lottery (LOTBA) participated in the "Last Challenge", the farewell match of Juan Martín del Potro against Novak Djokovic, with its campaign "Talking is Winning".

With a stand at the Estadio Mary Terán de Weiss, the aim was to sensitize attendees about the importance of fostering dialogue when addressing the issues of gambling in minors, illegal gambling, and the benefits of having a healthy relationship with entertainment.

"Sport educates and teaches many life values," highlighted Del Potro. Meanwhile, Jesús Acevedo, president of LOTBA, added that "having a presence in these types of sports activities is fundamental to convey messages that generate a positive impact on society, especially on minors who it is crucial to raise awareness to prevent their access to illegal gambling games."

The campaign "Talking is Winning" promotes dialogue and awareness to work on prevention from a comprehensive and interdisciplinary approach. The campaign targets parents, educators, guardians, families, and the community in general with messages like: "If you think your child is gambling, bet on dialogue", "If you gamble illegally, you always lose", and "Don't gamble it away". "Talking is Winning" is part of the comprehensive program "What's at Stake", which promotes responsible and legal gambling.

Among the measures taken by the City to tackle child gambling addiction are the closure of registration for new licenses and a maximum limit of 11 operators, which are currently active and regulated. There have also been 55 awareness workshops that reached more than 6,000 students, and access to online gaming sites was blocked in 1,770 schools.

Additionally, gaming sites were blocked on school WIFI networks, and access to 1271 legal and illegal pages was blocked from the WIFI network of all public management schools in the City. On the other hand, to prevent excessive use of electronic devices and the damage caused by gambling addiction, the City regulated the use of cell phones in all schools in Buenos Aires. The measure aims to protect the development of children and adolescents, encourage concentration in class, and promote socialization during breaks. It impacts 566,000 students from 2,291 schools in the City of Buenos Aires at the initial, primary, and secondary levels, both public and private.
