The Curaçao Gaming Control Board (GCB) has strongly denied allegations of misconduct in the country’s gambling licensing reforms. In a press release issued 29 November, the GCB addressed claims of impropriety in the island’s gaming license issuance process.
It follows the filing of a 400-page report by financial forensic investigator and opposition politician Dr. Luigi Faneyte, which tabled serious criminal allegations against the island’s finance minister and several figures involved with the reform process.
The report centered on alleged wrongdoing involving the government’s issuing of provisional licenses in November 2023.
These, the government has claimed, aimed to bridge the gap between the previous sub-licensing system and the new licensing framework under the LOK, the pending legislation aimed at reforming the island’s gambling regulations.
