Netizen submission:
I want to remind all foreigners working hard and taking risks to earn money in the Philippines, whether you are from China, Vietnam, or Indonesia.
No matter what time it is, always be careful when walking outside. Recently, I have been hearing from the security at the Sea Apartments that a group of Chinese people have been roaming around this area looking for targets to rob, and I never thought it would happen to me.
The incident happened like this: on the evening of December 6th, around 10:30 PM, I was walking back to the Sea Apartments from the 7-11 convenience store next to the Phoenix Hotel.
Suddenly, two Chinese men got out of a car in front of me, and I didn't think much of it at the time.
Then, very suddenly, one pulled out a knife and the other a gun, and they quickly approached me. The one with the knife pressed it against my waist from behind and forced me into the car, threatening to kill me otherwise.
With no other choice, I got into the car, and the robber with the knife pushed me into the back seat, while the one with the gun drove. The robber in the back seat then took my bag and all the contents inside (including: 3 mobile phones, credit cards, and cash in pesos).
They also forcibly made me log into my Jiuding account to transfer money. You might wonder why I didn't run or jump out of the car, why I got in the car, and think that I deserved it for being stupid, but I want to say that at that moment, I could only take things step by step, and I did try to struggle during the journey, but I was hit and felt dizzy at the time.
The driver later found a dark place to stop the car, pointed the gun at me, and threatened to shoot me if I moved. After taking all my possessions, they threw my bag back at me and told me to get out of the car.
One of the robbers was bald with a mask and had a northeastern accent, and the other had hair, wore glasses, and also wore a mask, sounding like he was from Fujian.
I have reported the incident to the local police station, and the Phoenix Hotel has cooperated by submitting the surveillance footage to the local police station.
I still need to go back to the local police station to assist with the investigation. There's no need to doubt whether I was targeted, as I am just a worker earning a fixed salary.
I want to say that with the current situation in the Philippines, you must be careful when going out. With knives and guns, maybe the kidnappers are short of manpower and have gone to Cambodia to find victims. There are fewer kidnappings, but they have turned to robbery.
Never give them a chance to catch you. If you don't cooperate, the consequences could be unimaginable, especially for women who are better off not walking alone outside!
