Malaysian police and immigration authorities have launched a large-scale operation to dismantle a large call center suspected of being operated by a Chinese fraud group.
It is reported that the group spent a large sum of money to purchase a 9-story building in the bustling commercial area of Bangsar South, Kuala Lumpur, as their criminal activity base.
40 fully armed special police officers, together with immigration officials, raided this commercial building. According to eyewitnesses at the scene, the police quickly controlled the situation during the operation and escorted nearly a hundred suspects—including Chinese nationals and locals—to police vehicles.
At least 12 police vans were used to transfer these suspects.
Sources say that the criminal group is suspected of using the entire building as a call center for telephone fraud and other illegal financial activities. The group employed a large number of staff, including both Chinese nationals and local personnel, showing its large organizational structure and complex operating model.
The police stated that this operation was launched after several days of investigation and intelligence gathering, aiming to completely dismantle this fraud network. An official emphasized: "Such acts of conducting large-scale criminal activities in high-end commercial areas will not be tolerated, and we will take stricter law enforcement measures."
Currently, all arrested suspects have been taken to police headquarters for further interrogation. The immigration department is verifying the identity and visa status of foreign nationals, while the police focus on investigating the group's funding sources and victim situations.
It is preliminarily estimated that this criminal network may involve transnational fraud.
Residents of Bangsar South expressed support for the police's swift action and were shocked that the fraud group could operate in a high-end commercial area for a long time. A resident said: "I hope the authorities will strengthen patrols to ensure that our community no longer becomes a haven for criminals."
The further development of this case is attracting attention from all walks of life, and the police are expected to announce more details in the coming days.
