Maine sports bettors spent $51.9 million in November, a 0.8 percent decrease from $52.3 million in October, according to figures from the Maine Gambling Control Unit, but revenue reached more than $8 million, more than double the $3.8 million collected in October.
DraftKings Sportsbook, which operates in partnership with the Passamaquoddy Tribe, led with more than $7 million in revenue from a $44.7 million handle. While handle was higher in October, the revenue total marks a record for the sportsbook, surpassing the previous high of $5.9 million set in September, the first month of NFL season.
The Penobscot, Maliseet & Micmac tribes, which operate Caesars Sportsbook, reported revenues of $826,738 from $6.7 million in wagers. This sportsbook has a record monthly handle of almost $9.1 million, set in December 2023, its second month of operation. However, the revenue total marks a new high for the sportsbook, surpassing $788,767 in September.
The remaining $472,840 was wagered at Oddfellahs, Maine’s first in-person sports betting bar that opened in September, exceeding the combined total of its September and October handles. Revenue also reached more than the two months combined, at $99,309.
Legal online sports betting launched in Maine in November 2023 via DraftKings and Caesars, which have yet to open retail locations in the state.
