Argentina.- Casino and gaming room workers in the province of Entre Ríos demand improvements in their work situations and the hiring of a Worker Director.
In statements to FM Estación Plus Crespo, José Mariani, General Secretary of the Union of Public Administration Employees of Entre Ríos (Sedapper), revealed the situation they are facing: "We had been claiming for quite some time, each of the concerns of the workers of the Institute of Financial Assistance for Social Action of Entre Ríos (IAFAS), surveyed in the different casinos of the province. We were transferring different situations that were occurring, but as we did not find an answer, it was decided to make a mobilization of the entire province to the Central IAFAS. We are motivated by the situation in which the workers and each of the Gaming Rooms are found, as well as the contracts of the private ones, which do not comply with the Central IAFAS and therefore, by decantation, suffer those who carry out a workday."
He then pointed out: "The IAFAS has a law that operates with three officials. The governor of the province has appointed the president, the political director, and the worker director, who as of December 10, 2023, is absent, it is an empty position. What we ask - urgently before the Justice and we have also sent an administrative preliminary draft -, is that they immediately call elections and that all these issues that we channel through the institution, can be done through the representative of the workers"
And he added: "On December 10, it will be one year since the workers have been without a representative. The IAFAS is functioning with two of its key officials, instead of three, as the Law states. I wonder if the governor really wants the Financial Assistance Institute to function with two and not three, but he should reformulate the law if that is his intention. It seems he is afraid of being controlled; but fundamentally, if there were a worker director, these things would not be happening and we would not be at the door of the IAFAS claiming for the problems that are occurring."
For his part, Gabriel Abelendo, candidate for the position of worker director, stated: "The law is very clear, it talks about calling elections for representatives of the workers. It means that any colleague who works at the Institute, on a permanent basis, service contract with stability, can be a candidate for this position at the IAFAS. José Mariani called me, he called me, he put the Union at my disposal and one regains strength and again I am on this campaign path, so that, God willing and thanks to the votes of the colleagues, I would again integrate the directorate," said the one who aims for his third term of representation of the human resource of the organism.
"The gaming rooms and casinos are going through a very complicated moment, because we have deficiencies in the building part, deficiencies in the employee part, we do not have enough quantity in some places to be able to maintain an adequate service, there is no attraction for people to continue wanting to go. This affects, not only the colleague who works, but also our salaries, our productivity," Abelendo added about the current professional labors of him and his colleagues.

Regarding these building complaints, the candidate for worker director pointed out: "The Union has been touring the Rooms and we have problems with leaking roofs, problems with air conditioners, in some cases some bases have moved and we have walls that are cracking, there is fear that we may have a serious problem. We do not want to mourn any victims, this worries the colleagues. There are totally deplorable rest rooms and the Institute has to manage these issues."
