According to the Philippine Business Daily, the Philippine police confirmed the discovery of the body and vehicle of Mr. Hong, a Taiwanese businessman from China who had been missing for two months.
The police have notified Mr. Hong's wife and friends in the Philippines to identify the body.
It is reported that Mr. Hong was a member of the Taiwanese "Yiguandao" and had been living in Parañaque, south of Manila.
According to the Philippine Star, the 47-year-old Taiwanese businessman went missing after heading to Tagaytay on October 10 this year. Tagaytay is famous for its spectacular views of the Taal Volcano, and Mr. Hong had posted a photo on social media with the volcano in the background before his disappearance.
Mr. Hong's wife has been unable to contact him since October 10, and after several unsuccessful attempts, she sought assistance from the Philippine Anti-Kidnapping Squad on October 13, accompanied by a liaison officer from the Criminal Investigation Bureau of Taiwan in the Philippines.
Additionally, Mr. Hong's family and friends have also visited several police stations in Parañaque City multiple times, hoping to find his whereabouts.
Preliminary investigations show that Mr. Hong was kind-hearted and led a simple life, without any involvement in business disputes. Currently, the Philippine police are further investigating the details of the case to determine the truth behind the incident and to hold the responsible parties accountable.
The news of Mr. Hong's murder has sparked widespread concern on social media and among the local Chinese community, with calls for a swift investigation to bring justice to the victim.
