The members of the CPI of Bets may vote this Tuesday (10) on a request from Senator Soraya Thronicke that proposes the creation of a channel dedicated to receiving complaints about sports betting and online games. According to the proposal, the CPI could analyze the notifications or forward them to the Police or the Public Prosecutor's Office. Moreover, the legislator insists that the advertising of bets must be prohibited.
According to the senator, “every day there are stories of parents who hospitalize their children. People attempting against their lives, marriages destroyed”, she cited to justify the proposal of creating the channel for receiving complaints.
Soraya Thronicke explained that real cases will help senators in presenting bills to regulate online betting. Among the suggestions is the total prohibition of advertising for these games, including on the internet.
“First, eliminate advertising completely. How am I going to ban advertising for minors under 18 if they attend stadiums and they spend the night on the computer? It's very difficult. We simply have to cut it off at the root, no advertising. Didn't this happen with cigarettes? We cannot allow advertising, it starts from there. Many do not pay the person's prize and disappear”, she stated.
The channel proposed by the senator would be restricted to the CPI of Bets and, as soon as the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry is concluded, it would cease to exist. The request is to be voted on at the committee meeting this Tuesday (10).
