Kentucky residents bet $2.9 billion in the first 14 months of legal sports betting in the commonwealth, according to a new report from the Kentucky Horse Racing and Gaming Corporation.

The total includes bets placed from September 2023 through October 2024. Of the $2.9 billion in wagers, $2.8 billion were made via online betting platforms, while the remaining $100 million in bets were made at brick-and-mortar locations, according to the report.

The bets created about $46.1 million in tax revenue for Kentucky, with $43.1 million coming in the first 12 months. Officials estimated generating $23 million in revenue in the first year.

State law distributes the tax revenue three ways. First, the revenue covers administrative expenses of running the program.
