Recently, the PCT Police District 5 arrested a teenager named "Golf Las Vegas" for secretly operating an online gambling website in the downtown area of Mae Sai, generating a monthly turnover of 2.5 million Thai Baht.
On December 17, 2024, Major General Worapong Khamlue, the commander of the Provincial Police Bureau Region 5, received a report about illegal online gambling activities in the Mae Sai district area.
Subsequently, he instructed Colonel Watchara Theukta, the deputy director of the Fifth District Police Bureau, to collaborate with the Information Technology Crime Suppression Center (PCT District 5) and the Fifth Provincial Police Bureau to initiate an investigation.
The police, with a search warrant, arrested 26-year-old Mr. Anutai (alias Golf Las Vegas) and 22-year-old S.Porn (alias), both from Mae Sai district, Chiang Rai, residing in a house at Village No. 9, Wiang Phang Kham sub-district.
Upon investigation, the house was confirmed to be used for online gambling activities, with a monthly turnover of no less than 2.5 million Thai Baht.
Under Section 12 of the Gambling Act of 1935, Mr. Anutai and his girlfriend were charged with "arranging a match crime" and illegal gambling.
They were accused of recruiting others to participate in gambling activities without official authorization or permission, constituting an act of deception.
The investigation report revealed that Mr. Anutai (Golf Las Vegas) and his girlfriend admitted to being the caretakers of the house and stated that the house was actually owned by them.
The police seized several computer devices and a mobile phone at the scene and took them to the Mae Sai Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.
