More than 200 days have passed since the authorities announced that the tender for the casino would be launched in 120 days, but now they assure that there will be news soon.
Argentina.- Just a few days before the launch of the summer season in the seaside cities of the Buenos Aires coast, uncertainty grows among the workers of the Casino de Necochea due to the delay in the call for tenders, scheduled for October, which would enable the operation of slot machines in the room.
This week, the Necochea Deliberative Council met, and the situation of the casino was among the topics discussed. After the meeting, the ruling councilor Marcelo Schwarz told the local media TSN Necochea: "There are issues that are part of our agenda and that must be urgently resolved, including the casino."
And he anticipated: "We will have news imminently, because the governor gave his firm word to move forward with the corresponding specifications and there would be interested parties", however, he clarified that "although we are tied to the times of the Province, the casino is a topic that fills us with shame and that needs to be resolved".
It is worth remembering that last May, the president of the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC Buenos Aires), Gonzalo Atanasof, toured the Casino de Necochea with the mayor Arturo Rojas and workers of the complex, where they announced a new phase of joint work to tender the casino. At that time, they said that the tender for slot machines for Necochea would include an investment in equipment and maintenance of the gaming room, and would go hand in hand with the tender of the complex by the municipality.
However, although a period of 120 days was stipulated for the launch of the specifications, more than 200 days have passed without news, something that worries the workers, especially considering that the summer season attracts many tourists to the seaside city, who could add the casino as one of the tourist spots during their vacations.
In October, the mayor of Necochea, Arturo Rojas, spoke with Necochea Digital on Radio Rivadavia and highlighted the importance of the imminent call for tenders to operate slots at the Casino de Necochea after it was known that October would be the month to start accepting offers.
At that time, Rojas said that there would be news that same week with the Buenos Aires authorities to discuss the tender specifications, which had been postponed and said that the tender for slot machines "is key to the development of the casino complex, as it will allow attracting private investors who can take charge of the remodeling and restructuring of the complex".
He also added that this situation could drive an "urban development that gives a new impetus to the problems that the city has been facing for decades" and highlighted that "the political decision is to move forward in this process", and that they are in contact with the province to advance in the lottery and casinos part.
"The goal is to find investors who can take charge of the remodeling and restructuring of the casino complex, since the municipality is not in a position to do so", the mayor told the local radio almost a month ago.
The tender is considered urgent by the workers of the casino, who highlight that the lack of slot machines is a barrier to the arrival of private companies that want to invest in the complex.
The company Casinos Victoria de Daniel Mautone would still be interested in the Casino Complex of Necochea and in participating in the imminent call for tenders to operate the slot machines of the iconic complex of the seaside city.
The information was released by the portal La Política Online and, according to it, the news would have been confirmed by sources close to the municipality managed by Arturo Rojas.
It is worth remembering that in April 2022, after a second failed tender, executives and engineers from Casino Victoria had already participated in a tour along with union and provincial authorities.
