The plan arises following a recently enacted ordinance and seeks an interdisciplinary approach to the issue to ensure a safe and legal gaming environment.
Argentina.- After the sanction of an ordinance by the local Deliberative Council, the municipality of Bell Ville launched the program "To win you don't have to play", with the purpose, according to its rationale, to act "in the face of the uncontrollable proliferation of illegal online betting pages that operate without control or regulation, becoming a scourge that threatens the health, safety, well-being, and property of the citizens of Bell Ville in general and the youth in particular".
Thus, according to the spirit of the local law, "coordinated measures are adopted from the different areas of the municipal state in order to put adults on alert, raise awareness about the risks of gambling addiction, thus ensuring a safe and legal gaming environment that provides protection to the most vulnerable and ensures that betting activities are carried out within a strict legal and regulatory framework".
In addition to being formed by the Municipal Executive, the "Commission of the Program To Win You Don't Have to Play" is established, and the blocking of 41 online betting sites detailed in an annex and those that in the future replace them or new sites that are detected.
At the same time, the municipality invited various institutions and organizations in the city, such as sports entities, social organizations, civil society organizations, educational institutions, etc., to adopt identical initiatives in their establishments and digital environments, making available municipal personnel with technical knowledge in the field for this purpose.
