The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission released a timeline this week in response to a petition aiming to halt Linn County’s efforts to bring a casino to Cedar Rapids.
The petition, filed by Riverside Casino and the Washington County Riverboat Foundation, argues the Linn County bond vote in 2021 was worded incorrectly, since the verbiage asked voters to “continue” gaming in the county when it hadn’t even started.
Now, the IRGC has a set schedule for both Riverside and Linn County legal teams to state their cases… The timeline is similar to two similar petitions back in 2014 and 2015.
Market studies of the impacts of a Cedar Rapids casino are also scheduled to be presented to the IRGC on Jan. 23.
