On Thursday, agents from the Bureau of Immigration (BI) in Pasay City, Philippines, arrested a Chinese woman suspected of involvement in illegal POGO operations.
The head of the Intelligence Division of the Bureau of Immigration, Fortunato Manahan Jr., shared the news of the arrest of 49-year-old Pan Meishu (also known as Hannah) inside a hotpot restaurant in Pasay City.
It is reported that Pan is connected to the illegal offshore gambling operations of Zunyuan Technology in Danlak Province, Banban, a company previously raided by authorities for alleged criminal and human trafficking activities.
Zunyuan, formerly known as Hongsheng Gaming Technology, was one of the subjects investigated by former Banban Mayor Alice Leal Guo.
The Bureau of Immigration and government intelligence forces conducted this operation after confirming her presence in the area.
Bureau of Immigration Commissioner Joel Anthony Vidal praised the arrest, stating that this operation is just one of many targeting illegal foreigners working in scam centers.
Vidal said, "These companies engaging in illegal activities have no place in this country." He added, "As we continue to crack down on illegal POGO operations, more arrests are expected."
Vidal mentioned that the suspect will continue to be detained by the Bureau of Immigration and undergo deportation proceedings.
