The Pasig Court on Friday dismissed the bail application filed by the dismissed Mayor of Bamban, Tarlac, Alice Guo, and others in their eligible human trafficking case.
Prosecutor General Richard Fadullon confirmed this.
In a resolution posted on X (formerly Twitter) by Saleema Refran of GMA, the Pasig Court stated that it rejected the application, "considering that the prosecution presented sufficient evidence during the bail hearing."
Guo is currently detained in the women's dormitory of the Pasig City Jail.
GMA News Online has requested comments from Alice Guo's camp, but no response has been received as of press time. Alice Guo and others are accused of violating the 2003 Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act, which was amended by the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 and 2022.
This case is related to the June raid on a Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) center in the town where Alice Guo was located, during which over 800 Filipinos and foreigners were rescued.
In September, Alice Guo pleaded not guilty to the charges. One of her lawyers, Attorney Nicole Jamilla, stated that the embattled former mayor firmly denies the accusations against her.
Alice Guo also faces a corruption case in the Barrenuela Court and a serious misrepresentation case in the Tarlac Court.
The Manila Court has also filed a legality review application against Ms. Guo, and the Tarlac Court has filed an application to cancel her birth certificate.
She also faces charges of tax evasion, 87 counts of money laundering, and charges of perjury and forgery brought by the Department of Justice.
Ms. Guo has denied the multiple charges against her.
