In the last weeks of the year, executives from the betting sector rush to get their platforms and game providers certified to meet all the requirements of the Ministry of Finance by dawn on January 1st. However, the main concern when the regulation starts to apply is whether the state power will have the ability to block illegal betting sites, says EstrelaBet's legal director, Frederico Gabrich.
“More regulatory and budgetary strength must be given to both the Central Bank and Anatel,” the executive says. “If the pix operations of illegal houses are blocked by the BC, half of the problems are solved. If Anatel has the resources to block the sites, the other half is resolved”
There is also concern among the bets licensed by the Treasury about the requirement to maintain a minimum financial reserve of 5 million reais. The law mandates that this reserve be maintained in the form of investments in Treasury bonds, but there was doubt among company executives about which bond or bonds would suffice to comply with the norm.
Combating addiction
The director of EstrelaBet states that the company is also concerned with responsible gaming and adopts initiatives to offer treatment to people with addiction.
“We have a support program for people who seek psychological help. We provide the service through the university with which we have an agreement,” says Gabrich.
“We also strive to seek sponsorships not only in sports or with influencers, but also in the social area. We have a major sponsorship with Santa Casa de Belo Horizonte, the largest SUS hospital in Minas Gerais,” he adds.
