The National Association of Games and Lotteries is attempting to establish an alliance with the Ministry of Health and other official agencies to advance in the fight against problematic gambling.
Brazil.- The National Association of Games and Lotteries (ANJL) requested a meeting with the Ministry of Health to negotiate a technical cooperation agreement with the ministry and the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting (SPA) of the Ministry of Finance to advance in the combat against problematic gambling.
The request was made on the initiative of the ANJL, which represents, along with the International Gaming Association (Aigaming) and the Brazilian Association of International Gaming Operators and Suppliers (Abrajogo).
The request was made to Minister Nísia Trindade (Health), Secretaries Regis Dudena (Prizes and Betting) and Giovanni Rocco Neto (Sports Betting and Economic Development of Sport) and Sônia Barros, director of the Department of Mental Health of the Ministry of Health.
The agreement would have four objectives. One of them is to conduct a survey to identify the profile, betting pattern, and behavior of Brazilian bettors. The intention is to gather information about the percentage of the population that suffers from some gambling disorder and the main triggers that end up leading these players to addiction. The research would have the technical approval of the Ministry of Health.
Another point is the use of artificial intelligence in the General Betting System (SIGAP) to monitor in real time the profile and betting pattern of Brazilians. This would allow the monitoring of suspicious activities and the identification and prevention of problematic patterns, in the evaluation of associations.

The associations also want the operators to follow a protocol of responsible gaming indicators on their platforms. In addition, they suggest the creation of a working group among the associations, the Secretariat of Prizes and Betting, and the Ministry of Health to develop a standard protocol that defines the minimum indicators that should be monitored by Brazilian operating agents. The entities also sent a proposal of regulatory guidelines for a monitoring system of problematic gambling in Brazil.
