A 35-year-old Chinese businessman was shot dead in a restaurant in Cabanatuan, Nueva Ecija, Philippines.
The victim, Shaohan Qi (transliterated), was the owner of the local "Taiwanese Flavor Restaurant".
On the evening of the incident, he was having dinner with friends in the restaurant when a gunman suddenly entered and shot him seven times in the head before fleeing the scene on a motorcycle.
According to preliminary police investigations, the case may involve a business dispute related to the victim's quarrying business in Tarlac. It is reported that although the business was operating smoothly, Qi decided to withdraw an investment of 23 million pesos and planned to open a new quarry in Nueva Ecija. Additionally, conflicts with a former employee were also listed as a possible motive.
Previously, Qi had accused a driver of stealing truck parts and had fired the employee, leading to a dispute between them.
The police are currently making every effort to track down the identity of the murderer and are conducting an in-depth investigation of the case background to determine the specific motive. Local law enforcement is calling for witnesses to provide clues to help solve the case.
