Recently, Thai police successfully dismantled 8 scam dens located in Bangkok and arrested several Chinese nationals, seizing a large amount of equipment used for committing crimes.
On December 24, police found 8 SIM card boxes and other related equipment in an apartment in the Huamak area of Bangkok, arresting a 19-year-old Chinese man and his girlfriend.
As the investigation deepened, police conducted further searches at multiple locations in Bangkok.
On December 26, in a joint operation with multiple departments, police successfully arrested four Chinese nationals in the Bang Na district, namely 32-year-old Wang, 29-year-old Wang (same name), 31-year-old Huang, and 29-year-old Xiong.
During the searches, police also seized 3 laptops and 1 flash drive. Although the suspects denied all charges, claiming they were just tourists in Thailand, they failed to provide any photos of their travels in Thailand.
Furthermore, the suspects stated they were involved with gambling websites in China, but had not engaged in any work since arriving in Thailand.
The suspects also claimed that their passports were kept by an agency, but they were unable to contact the agency to produce valid documents. The police stated that these scam groups had clear divisions of labor, involving finding residences, technical support, and monitoring equipment, all participated by Chinese nationals.
The suspects have now been charged with "entering Thailand without permission and engaging in fraudulent activities," and the case is under further investigation.
