Captain Dennis Agosto, deputy chief of the Carmen Police Station, stated that the victim was a 54-year-old man who was attacked and shot by two armed suspects.

It is known that the victim had boarded the bus from a mall in Tagum City heading to Davao City, while the suspects boarded at Timog Tagum in Tagum City, approximately 1.5 kilometers between the two stops.

When the bus reached Sto. Niño, one of the suspects suddenly shot the victim in the head and stole his backpack as he fell to the ground, then quickly got off the bus and fled the scene.
