The Horseshoe Casino Baltimore, operated by Caesar Entertainment Group, is the latest casino to be sued by Jordan Kerr.
Kerr, who identifies himself as a card counter, prefers to describe himself as an "advantage player" and has been frequenting physical casinos for over a decade.
The incident at the Horseshoe Casino Baltimore occurred last October, but Kerr only recently filed a lawsuit against the company.
According to Kerr, when the management asked to see his ID, he refused and left the casino table. It was at this moment that he was detained.
Kerr claims he was subjected to personal injury during his "illegal detention" at the site.
A few years ago, Kerr filed a similar lawsuit against Harrah's New Orleans Casino, claiming he was a victim of assault, false imprisonment, battery, negligence, trespass to chattels, defamation, and violation of search and seizure and due process.
It is worth mentioning: Card counting is not illegal, and those who engage in card counting will not be prosecuted. However, if a casino suspects card counting, it can expel the player from the casino.
In court documents, Kerr claims that the local sheriff's office "devised a plan" to "invade his anonymity and detain him."
In this case, the representative attorney for Caesar Entertainment is Robert Leigh Hebb, head of litigation at Semmes, Bowen & Semmes law firm. Kerr's representative attorney is Harris S Ammerman.
