Even during the parliamentary recess, the team will continue working, as assured by Soraya. The senator denounced attempts to destabilize the commission, mentioning threats and persecutions she suffered. "Regardless of attacks against the CPI, we will go to the end," she stated, highlighting the seriousness of the crimes investigated and promising to present a bill with special proceedings to regulate the sector.
For the next year, the CPI plans to hear from influencers who promote betting on social networks and to deepen the discussion on the social impacts of the sector, including mental health and the safety of children and adolescents.
Online betting and gaming
Since its creation in April, the CPI on Game and Sports Betting Manipulation has investigated allegations of manipulation of results in sports competitions. Under the presidency of Senator Jorge Kajuru (PSB-GO) and the rapporteurship of Romário (PL-RJ), the commission heard from directors, businessmen, and professionals linked to football.
One of the highlights was the delivery of a dossier by businessman John Textor, with evidence of manipulation in Brazilian football. For 2025, the CPI plans new hearings, including testimonies from businessmen and football players involved in allegations. Among those summoned are Lucas Paquetá, from West Ham, and Luiz Henrique, from Botafogo.
Kajuru promised to maintain dedication to the investigation and suggested that the final report, to be presented by Senator Romário, will be "relentless" against irregularities.
