Investigators with Lethbridge police determined that a threat made to a local casino Thursday night was a ‘swatting’ hoax. That’s when a false report is made to emergency services in order to trigger a response from law enforcement.

Officers arrived just after 6:30 p.m. to Pure Casino Lethbridge, located along the 3000 block of Second Avenue South.

An unknown caller falsely stated that the building was going to explode while the casino’s security further reported a suspicious package left inside.

The building was evacuated and no explosives or suspicious devices were found after an extensive search determined that there was no threat to the public.
