Xpoint Technology has now become the latest provider authorized to operate under the new commercial gaming framework in the United Arab Emirates.
Xpoint has obtained a gaming supplier license issued by the Indian Commercial Gaming Regulatory Authority (GCGRA), allowing the company to provide geolocation services to commercial gaming operators licensed by GCGRA.
This makes Xpoint the fourth gaming-related supplier authorized by GCGRA, following Smartplay International, Aristocrat Technologies, and PayBy.
Xpoint's geolocation platform, named Xpoint Verify, is specifically designed for iGaming and sports betting, focusing on geographic compliance. Xpoint Verify aims to ensure accurate geographic tracking, prevent fraud, and provide marketing insights for operators. The technology helps combat online gaming fraud by extracting user locations and providing a compliant experience.
Recently, Xpoint won a significant victory in the US Court of Appeals against its competitor GeoComply. The court ruled in favor of Xpoint, upholding the dismissal of GeoComply's patent infringement lawsuit and declaring its geolocation patent invalid.
Land-based Gaming
Wynn Resorts is the only company in the UAE with a license for land-based gaming facilities. Its Wynn Al Marjan Island Resort being built in Ras Al Khaimah will have a 225,000 square feet gaming area and is expected to open in early 2027. This will be the first gaming resort in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
The resort has obtained a renewable 15-year land-based gaming facility license issued by the UAE GCGRA and is expected to become one of the three competitive integrated resorts in the UAE.
MGM Resorts also plans to open gaming facilities in Abu Dhabi. Currently, each emirate in the UAE can have a maximum of one land-based license.
Lottery
The UAE's lottery operator "The Game" is the only operator in the seven emirates to obtain a lottery license. The launch of the lottery marks the beginning of a new era of regulated gaming in the country. This milestone event means that residents of the UAE have the opportunity to win life-changing large prizes.
The UAE lottery is the first licensed gaming company in the country, paving the way for future growth in the industry. The license is held by Momentum's subsidiary, Game LLC, which is responsible for the lottery operations.
