Netizen submission:

A kidnapping case targeting Chinese nationals occurred again in the Philippines! Fortunately, the kidnapping attempt failed, and the police have already started a full investigation of the suspect.

Fortunately, the kidnapping attempt failed, and the police have already started a full investigation of the suspect. It is understood that the incident took place in the Montevista Heights community of Brgy Dolores, Taytay, Rizal. The kidnapped Chinese national, surnamed Hong (transliterated as Hong), is 41 years old and has been engaged in the clothing business locally for 7 years.

According to the investigation, the suspect drove into the Montevista Heights community where the businessman surnamed Hong resides at 5:06 PM yesterday. Since Mr. Hong was not at home, the suspect waited in the car until around 6 PM.

Around 6 PM, Mr. Hong drove home with his wife and daughter in the car. Seeing the target appear, the suspect drove closer, then got out of the car and attacked Mr. Hong with a handgun, also hitting him on the head. Mr. Hong tried to escape, and one of the suspects fired a shot at the ground (presumably as a warning).

Fortunately, Mr. Hong managed to escape. After the failed kidnapping attempt, the suspect fled the scene in his car.

According to current information, the Montevista community where the victim resides is a gated community with security management. According to regulations, when non-resident vehicles enter, the guard asks the driver for ID and scans it for records, returning the ID when the vehicle leaves. Preliminary investigations show that the suspect driver retrieved his ID when fleeing the scene.

Regarding the motive for the case, Mr. Hong, the victim, stated that he does not gamble and has no dealings with POGO personnel, and is unsure why the suspect attacked him.

The investigation by the Philippine Anti-Kidnapping Squad revealed that there have been consecutive robberies and kidnappings targeting Chinese nationals in the Greater Manila area and Bulacan province recently, with many involving Chinese nationals as perpetrators. The police suspect some of the suspects are former POGO employees.

The Rizal police revealed that the suspect was driving a Mitsubishi Montero, with a license plate possibly MAQ6923 or MAQ6423 (unclear in surveillance images), and are currently coordinating with the Land Transportation Office to track down the vehicle owner based on the license plate information, but the owner's information might only be available by tonight.
