Whiskey Pete's Hotel and Casino in Primm, Nevada, has shut its doors. It remains unclear if the property, located 25 minutes south of Vegas on the 15 Freeway, will reopen, reports Fox LA.

The hotel was an iconic landmark attraction familiar to those on the drive between Southern California and Las Vegas. Visitors to Whiskey Pete's website are now redirected to sister property Buffalo Bill's when looking for hotel accommodations.

Affinity Interactive, which owns Whiskey Pete's in addition to Primm Valley Resort and Buffalo Bill's, released a statement saying the company has "temporarily closed Whiskey Pete’s Casino in order to feature new and ongoing investments" at its other two resorts.

Affinity Interactive CEO Scott Butera said the ‘realigning of Primm Valley Resorts’ is part of their effort to develop ‘amenities that will better fit our new and current customers.’

The castle-inspired hotel and casino nestled on the California-Nevada border opened in 1977. It boasted a 46,000-square-foot casino with more than 300 slots and electronic table games as well as a William Hill sports and race book.

The hotel consisted of two towers with over 1,200 rooms and suites, a Buffalo-shaped swimming pool, and several restaurants.
