Swiss casinos are improving protection against gambling addiction and excessive gambling with an agreement between Switzerland and Liechtenstein, that will see gaming bans also apply in the other country.

The agreement comes into force on January 7, 2025. From this date, around 100,000 gaming bans from terrestrial and online casinos in Switzerland will also apply to casinos in Liechtenstein.

Casinos must ban people who they believe are gambling beyond their financial means, are addicted to gambling, have banned themselves or because of tips from relatives. Casinos require proof of financial status from players who play frequently or with high stakes. If no documents are submitted or the documents show an inadequate financial situation, the person will be blocked.
