Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, during an interview at the Government House, confirmed that the missing Chinese actor Wang Xing (stage name "Xingxing") has been found. Currently, Wang Xing is being transferred to the Thai authorities through relevant channels, and the Thai police are ready to receive him at Tak Province on the Thai-Myanmar border.
Prayut emphasized that Thailand must make every effort to properly handle such incidents to prevent negative public opinion from affecting Thailand's international image. "Once such incidents occur, they can lead to concerns and misunderstandings about 'Thailand being unsafe'. Therefore, we must do our utmost to demonstrate Thailand's safety and reliability."
She also requested that the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society of Thailand strengthen supervision and information management to promptly stop the spread of false information, to avoid negatively impacting Thailand's tourism industry.
Prayut revealed that the Thai government had deep communications with the Chinese Embassy in Thailand regarding this incident, and maintained close contact with China through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, jointly promoting a smooth resolution of the incident.
In response to the domestic opposition's suggestion of implementing "regional visa exemption" for Chinese tourists, Prayut stated that the government is willing to listen to all opinions, but currently, Thailand continues to support the mutual visa exemption policy with China. Whether to adjust the specific plan still needs further research and discussion to ensure it is beneficial for both sides.
Although this incident is nearing its end, its potential impact on Thailand's tourism industry and Sino-Thai bilateral relations still deserves attention. The government also stated that it will continue to strengthen cooperation with all parties to ensure that similar incidents do not happen again.
