A groundbreaking ceremony for the Casino Del Sol Grant Road in Tucson, Arizona, will take place at 9:30 a.m. PT January 13.
The casino will be the third operated by the Pascua Yaqui Tribe, who also operates Casino of the Sun and Casino Del Sol, both in Tucson.
The 172,000-square-foot property plans include a new casino floor, food and beverage venues, parking, space for back of house operations and additional space for the future expansion of the Pascua Yaqui Tribe’s Sonoran Desert entertainment oasis.
The property also will be able to accommodate businesses for conferences and events.
The property was developed after the passage of the December 2022 Old Pascua Community Land Acquisition Act, which allows for the tribe’s lands to be taken into trust. The Pascua Yaqui Tribe bought the land off Grant and Interstate 10 because of its cultural significance to the tribe.
According to a release, the casino will provide “significant economic benefit” to Tucson, including jobs and social benefits. It also will provide revenue for the tribe to expand its community, healthcare and educational initiatives.
The venue will feature a 73,000 square-foot casino floor with a lobby, high-limit room, sportsbook, poker room, player’s club and table games. There will be four new venues for food and beverage, with a center bar, restaurants and a quick-concept outlet that will offer several food options.
A four-level parking garage will accommodate 1,050 vehicles and a surface parking lot will have 195 additional spaces. There also will be a 60,000 square-foot shell structure for the property’s future expansion
