Despite being the peak tourist season, the establishment announced that it will remain out of service due to non-compliance by the Buenos Aires IPLyC.
Argentina.- In the middle of the summer season, the peak tourist time for Mar del Plata, one of the seaside city's casinos will be out of service. The Casino Uthgra Sasso will close indefinitely because, according to reports, the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC) of Buenos Aires did not pay the security personnel who provide services, belonging to the Provincial Police.
“This is an issue that dates back several weeks, which we offered to resolve by making the payments to the security workers ourselves in order to keep the casino open under the security conditions required by the Institute itself. But the lack of willingness on their part and the breach of contract led Luis Barrionuevo to make this decision,” said Jorge González, general manager of the Hotel Uthgra Sasso to which this annex of the Central Casino belongs.
For now, there are 30 workers who will be relocated between the hotel and the Central Casino, waiting for future definitions about their job positions.
Located at Avenida de los Trabajadores 3545, the Casino Sasso has been, in a decade of existence, a space of entertainment for more than 100,000 people per year, especially in season, when Punta Mogotes and the south of Mar del Plata overflow with tourists looking for high-level proposals and spaces.

“Really the back and forth we have experienced in these weeks does not correspond with our way of working or of service towards the public and that is why our institutional leader made this decision that fills us with sorrow and concern,” expressed González.
