The Malaysian International Humanitarian Organization has revealed that the scam parks in Laos are facing a crackdown by local law enforcement, and all groups will relocate to Cambodia within the next two months.
Azrul Shafie, a frontline representative of the Malaysian International Humanitarian Organization, said that Laotian law enforcement has issued orders to eliminate all scam group activities within the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone this year.
He stated that this action will prompt a complete withdrawal of local scam groups, expected to relocate to Cambodia within the next two months.
Azrul Shafie warned that the scam parks in Cambodia will consequently increase, and human trafficking and scam activities will also intensify.
He claimed that scam groups often promise high "referral fees" to attract more people. According to him, victims who successfully lure someone to the park can receive about 50,000 RMB (approximately 9337 SGD), while the rewards in the Myanmar parks are even higher, reaching about 80,000 RMB (approximately 14940 SGD).
