The Immigration Bureau of Dafu revealed that 20 days ago, Chinese model Yang Zeqi claimed to come to Thailand for tourism, but has not yet appeared in Meisuo County, Dafu. The police are currently looking for her whereabouts.
The head of the Dafu Immigration Bureau office, Bovanpo Shuntalaleka, said in an interview with Thai media that after checking the database of the Huixin sub-checkpoint in Meisuo County, the Immigration Bureau has established a system to track and verify the identity information of foreign tourists, and reminds tourists to be vigilant against being lured to Myanmar to engage in illegal activities and become victims of human trafficking.
Bovanpo mentioned that according to the records of the Huixin sub-immigration checkpoint in Meisuo County, Chinese model Yang Zeqi arrived in Meisuo County by car from Bangkok at 1:30 PM on December 20, 2024.
During the check, the staff had a brief conversation with her, Yang Zeqi said that this trip was for tourism in Meisuo, her attitude was calm, and she did not show any abnormalities.
However, when the staff reminded her to be aware of the risk of fraud, she did not respond and insisted that she was just here for tourism.
Since Yang Zeqi's visa and passport were both legally valid, the Immigration Bureau did not take further action at that time. Bovanpo said: "Although we warned her, she insisted that it was just for tourism, and according to the regulations, we could not stop her."
Bovanpo further explained that the system of the Immigration Bureau helps the police to more easily track foreigners who disappear in Meisuo and alert them to avoid falling into fraud traps.
Previously, many tourists changed their travel plans after seeing the warning. However, there is still no clue about the disappearance of Yang Zeqi.
He also emphasized that the Dafu Immigration Bureau has informed all foreign tourists that after arriving in Meisuo County, it is strictly forbidden to cross the border into Myanmar. If someone tries to lead them across the border through natural passages, tourists need to be especially vigilant against being forced into fraudulent work.
