Cryptocurrency operator Stake announces the acquisition of Danish operator MonicoPlay, seeking further expansion in continental Europe.
In fact, this move still requires regulatory approval from the Danish Gambling Authority, Spillemyndigheden.
However, MonicoPlay's VinderCasino brand's recent successful development in Denmark has made the company a prime target for Stake, as the operator aims to expand its business in the Nordic region.
Currently, the Danish market is in a period of transition, with a report from May 2024 stating that the country's total gambling revenue from gaming machines, physical casinos, and online casinos has decreased by 6.9% to 595 million Danish kroner (USD 81.49 million).
This development is rapid, and Denmark has quickly introduced a new licensing system, which is now effective from January 1, 2025.
However, for Stake, this move into the Brazilian market is the latest step in its global expansion phase, with the operator focusing more on the Latin American market, especially Brazil, in recent months.
After obtaining a license at the beginning of 2025, Stake appointed a new national manager for Brazil and has now established new partnerships with TGLab and Kambi in the market.
It is worth noting that in July 2024, Stake also entered the Italian market through the acquisition of Idealbet from Octavian Group.
Brais Pena, Chief Strategy Officer of Stake's parent company Easygo, commented on the acquisition announcement: "This acquisition will allow us to enter another high-value, regulated market and bring exciting growth opportunities. We have already expanded our local operations in Latin America and Southern Europe, so it is obvious that the next step is to make our mark in the north."
"We are demonstrating our clear ability to succeed in highly regulated markets, which provides us with a blueprint for entering other crucially compliant regions.
"The MocinoPlay team has done an excellent job promoting the VinderCasino brand in the Danish market, and we look forward to integrating Stake's successful model to further drive this growth and attract more Danish players."
