Recently, the tycoon Heng Sethy has made controversial statements again, targeting high-ranking officials. He claimed that Hun Sen's nephew, Duke Hun To, defrauded Chinese investors of 9 million US dollars. However, the investor later posted a video online, stating that this was not the case.
Duke Hun To accused of defrauding Chinese investors of 9 million US dollars
Heng Sethy posted on Facebook a photo of the Chinese investor Sun Ruifeng with Hun To, along with a lawsuit. The lawsuit, filed in the name of "Sun Ruifeng," claims that Hun To received 9 million US dollars on October 18, 2024, promising to help obtain a mining license in Mondulkiri. However, after receiving the money, not only did Hun To fail to secure the mining license, but he also sent a group of people to kidnap him, forcing him to flee Cambodia.
The lawsuit was addressed to the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice, Kao Le, stating that his lawyer had sued Hun To and hoped the Ministry of Justice would intervene in the investigation.
The Ministry of Justice later responded that posts on social media are informal and must be formally filed before the Ministry of Justice can accept them.
However, Heng Sethy then posted a photo on Facebook of Hun To with the Minister of Justice Kao Le as a response.
Soon after, the internet celebrity journalist Pheng Vannak posted a clarification video shot by the Chinese investor Sun Ruifeng on Facebook, claiming that the lawsuit published by Heng Sethy was forged.
In the video, Sun Ruifeng stated that he never gave Hun To any money, saying that Hun To had helped him in the past: "When I was in Cambodia, I was cheated by a Cambodian, and it was Lord Hun To who helped me get my money back. He is my benefactor, and I would not repay kindness with ingratitude."
In the video, Sun Ruifeng claimed that the information released by Heng Sethy was forged.
