Recently, the Immigration Bureau of Nonthaburi, Thailand, successfully cracked down on a transnational fraud gang. This operation stemmed from a report that several Chinese nationals were residing in a hotel in the Bang Phli district of Nonthaburi, exhibiting suspicious behavior and suspected of illegal entry.
Investigators from the Nonthaburi Immigration Bureau acted swiftly, conducting a raid on room 114 of the hotel. The room was found to be crammed with 14 Chinese nationals, 13 males and one female.
Subsequently, the investigators took them to the Nonthaburi Immigration Checkpoint for further examination. Upon inspection, it was found that 9 of the 14 individuals had committed illegal acts. Six of them were staying in Thailand without permission, three had expired residence permits, and no illegal activities were found with the remaining five individuals.
In preliminary questioning, these individuals confessed that they were originally involved in a fraud gang in Myanmar. However, due to the crackdown by the Myanmar authorities, they had to flee to Thailand and stay in the aforementioned hotel.
During the day, they would gather in the room to discuss and plan until they were raided and arrested by the Thai police.
In light of this, the Nonthaburi Immigration Bureau urges the public to immediately report any suspicious or potentially disruptive foreigners to the Nonthaburi Immigration Bureau, so that the police can conduct timely inspections and handle the situation.
