Two days after plans for a casino resort sought by the Scotts Valley Band of Pomo Indians advanced with a Department of Interior approval, Vallejo City Manager Andrew Murray released a statement saying the city had no authority over the federal government’s decision.
“The City of Vallejo had no authority over the federal government’s decision regarding whether to assign trust status to the site, which is within the City’s boundary, nor will the City have any authority over the development that takes place on the site,” Murray wrote on the city’s website. “The City did submit a comment letter to the BIA in August expressing concerns about the project’s Environmental Assessment and calling for a full Environmental Impact Statement.”
