At the beginning of 2025, actor Wang Xing was supposed to kick off his "explosive start," but unexpectedly fell into a scam that almost cost him his life in Myawaddy. Fortunately, with the efforts of his girlfriend, family, and police forces from multiple countries, this thrilling cross-border rescue operation was successfully concluded.
According to news reports, the rescue team first identified the vehicle that took Wang Xing, then dispatched officers to track it from Myanmar into Thailand, and later negotiated with local Chinese merchants, eventually managing to enter the telecom fraud park to carry out the rescue.
Many netizens have noticed the phrase "negotiated with local Chinese merchants" and raised questions: Why was it necessary to negotiate with local Chinese merchants?
Myawaddy (sometimes referred to as Mawaddy in some news reports) is located in eastern Myanmar, just across the river from Mae Sot, Thailand, with local electricity and network signals provided by Thailand.
According to information from the United States Institute of Peace and independent Myanmar media Irrawaddy, Myawaddy is controlled by the central command of the local warlord Karen Border Guard, led by General Secretary Soe Chi.
North of Myawaddy are the Apollo, Yulong Bay, and Asia-Pacific New City parks. Among them, Asia-Pacific New City Park, also known as the notorious KK Park, is operated by Chinese businessman She Zhijiang, who was once on Interpol's red notice.
After She Zhijiang was arrested in Thailand on an Interpol warrant, Soe Chi held a high-profile blessing ceremony for him.
Other parks in Myawaddy include Jin Xin, Heng Sheng, and PPM. The owner of Jin Xin Park, Xiong Shijia from Anxi, Fujian, has met with Soe Chi and was photographed in military attire with him. Heng Sheng shares the same name and logo with a casino in Macau, suspected to be related to the boyfriend of a certain Wu.
About 2 kilometers from Myawaddy is the Jiaoke Park, formerly a military camp of the Karen Buddhist Army, operated by a Fujianese known as "Brother Wu."
It is evident that in Myawaddy, the military acts as a protective umbrella for the telecom fraud industry, and the local Chinese merchants have a very close relationship with the military.
This also explains why local Chinese merchants were involved in coordinating during the rescue of Wang Xing. The suspicion in everyone's mind has a clear answer now.
However, for the sake of thoroughness, we still need to ask one more question: Are the Chinese merchants who coordinated during the rescue the same group that operates the parks?
