China's Ministry of Public Security issues rare statement: Comprehensive review, full rescue! Major moves in Eastern Myanmar!

Recently, there have been frequent cases of Chinese citizens being deceived and stranded abroad, with family members seeking help through various means including social media.

The Ministry of Public Security takes this matter very seriously and has immediately instructed local public security agencies to thoroughly review the situations of Chinese citizens who are missing or stranded abroad, and to fully investigate these cases. With the support and assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chinese embassies and consulates abroad, efforts are being coordinated to rescue the stranded individuals.

Public security authorities warn that overseas fraud groups often use "high-paying jobs, free accommodation, reimbursement for airfare, and personal transportation" as bait, or lure people abroad under the guise of business inspections or free travel, to engage in illegal activities such as telecommunications and internet fraud.

The public is urged to remain vigilant, enhance personal safety measures, and not to be deceived by high-paying job offers abroad to avoid falling into fraud and scam traps.

If a family member is missing or stranded abroad, please report to the local public security authorities immediately and seek help from official channels such as Chinese embassies and consulates abroad.

The public security authorities will initiate investigations immediately and coordinate with relevant departments to locate and rescue the missing or stranded individuals.

A responsible official from the Ministry of Public Security stated that since July 2023, when the Ministry initiated a special operation to combat telecommunications and internet fraud in Northern Myanmar, public security agencies, in cooperation with Myanmar law enforcement, have continuously conducted law enforcement and security cooperation and a series of crackdowns, completely destroying the notorious Northern Myanmar Kokang "Four Big Families" criminal groups. The large-scale telecom fraud parks near our border in Northern Myanmar have been completely eradicated, and the living space for telecom fraud crimes in the area has been significantly reduced, with many fraud-related individuals moving to deeper areas like Myawaddy, Wanhai, and Dangyang.

Under the dual effects of severe crackdowns and extensive prevention and awareness campaigns, some telecom fraud parks are experiencing a "labor shortage." To maintain "normal operations" of the parks, overseas telecom fraud groups extensively deceive domestic individuals to go abroad for work or free international travel, then illegally detain or kidnap them to force them into illegal activities at fraud dens, severely infringing on the safety of people's lives and property, with extremely negative social impacts.

The public security authorities will continue to maintain a high-pressure stance against cross-border telecommunications and internet fraud crimes, especially in new fraud hotspots like Myawaddy, further strengthening international law enforcement cooperation, joining forces with police forces from relevant countries to conduct crackdowns, thoroughly destroy overseas fraud dens, and coordinate rescue efforts for stranded individuals, effectively safeguarding the safety of people's lives and property and their legitimate rights and interests.
