The head of Thailand's Technology Crime Suppression Division, Police Major General Daithong, mentioned that the case involving Prime Minister Peitong receiving a scam call is currently under investigation, gathering relevant information. As far as is known, there is more than one victim.
Police Major General Daithong stated that the scam syndicate has bases in neighboring countries, scanning mobile signals to find targets for fraud, and then searching online for victims' information to carry out the scams.
A former police officer reported that he was almost scammed by fraudsters using AI technology to disguise themselves. However, it must be admitted that despite the government and the Technology Crime Suppression Division's efforts to promote anti-scam awareness, there are still people who are not aware of these scams in time.
Currently, the Technology Crime Suppression Division is collaborating with multiple departments to cut off the communication signals of scam syndicates in neighboring countries. However, the frequent changing of devices by the scammers poses significant challenges to the signal disruption efforts.
Nevertheless, Thailand will continue to crack down on telecommunications fraud.
