Although Bill 2,234, which legalizes all gaming verticals in the country, was removed from the Senate agenda for deeper analysis by some ministries, it is a point of no return. After this government evaluation, I am sure that the matter will soon return to the agenda and will be approved”.
“It is worth noting that the government itself is interested in legalization, as the activity will promote investments of about R$ 100 billion in Brazil and about R$ 20 billion per year in taxes. Not to mention the countless direct and indirect jobs”, reinforces Cardama.
According to him, the main challenge is to overcome the agenda of customs, which has always been very strong. “Religious people concerned about the flock think that society does not have the capacity to choose its entertainment. And they claim, for this reason, that the activity is linked to criminal practices. This is very foolish, as the main global players are corporations with shares listed on stock exchanges around the world and comply with the strictest compliance rules”.
“I have no doubt that when legalization is approved, large corporations will come to Brazil and invest in large entertainment complexes, bringing numerous benefits to society, in addition to boosting tourism in the country. Foreigners will not come just to gamble. Whether you are in Brazil for business or leisure, you can extend your stay to visit a casino in some of the most beautiful places the country has to offer”, he highlights. Remembering that casinos will be just another tool for the tourism industry.
“I always like to cite an example. Hard Rock International, which started as a cafe in England in the 1970s, has grown into a large corporation today owned by an American indigenous nation, the Seminole. This has generated numerous benefits for the American tribe”, he recalls.
In addition, Cardama points out in the interview various data on the reach that the legalization of casinos in Brazil will bring to the economy and the benefits of the activity ceasing to be a gray market that does not contribute to the country.
