The city of Sheridan is working to move two Coffeen Avenue properties used for gambling to the M-1 industrial zoning district and is also addressing the “loophole” that allowed the properties to operate under incorrect zoning, city administrator Stuart McRae said.

During the city council’s Jan. 13 study session, county planner Kelly Schroeder discussed the impending rezone of Wyoming Downs, which occupies the former Ole’s Pizza building located at 927 Coffeen Avenue.

The city previously approved a liquor license in the fall of 2023 for Wyoming Downs. However, that permit was approved without review from the planning department, Schroeder said.
