Louisiana: Gaming revenue slightly decreases in December

The Louisiana Gaming Control Board Friday reported revenue of $203.5 million from all forms of gaming in December, a year-over-year decrease of 3 percent. Revenue decreased in four of the five of the state’s gaming districts.

Gaming revenue from online sports betting also decreased, yielding $35.5 million, down 32 percent year-over-year from a handle of $362 million, an increase of 5 percent.

Properties in the Lake Charles district led with gaming revenue of $73.3 million, an 11.8 percent decrease year-over-year. Golden Nugget Lake Charles brought in $27.4 million in revenue, a decrease of 11.8 percent compared to November 2023. L’Auberge Casino Resort posted revenue of $25.5 million, a year-over-year decrease of 9.3 percent and Delta Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel generated $13.3 million, a drop of 6.2 percent.

New Orleans properties generated $53.2 million, a year-over-year increase of 12.3 percent, the only Louisiana district to see an uptick of revenue in December. Caesars New Orleans posted revenue of $25.4 million, an increase of 2.6 percent. Treasure Chest, which moved to a land-based property in June, generated $12.1 million, a 73. percent increase, and Boomtown Casino & Hotel reached revenue of $9.7 million, an increase of 0.4 percent.

Shreveport/Bossier City properties generated revenue of $48.3 million, a drop of 5.3 percent compared to December 2023. Margaritaville Resort Casino posted revenue of $15.8 million, a year-over-year decrease of 4.5 percent. Horseshoe Bossier City generated $13.2 million, a decrease of 4 percent. Bally’s Shreveport Casino & Hotel posted revenue of $9.1 million, a year-over-year decrease of 7.7 percent.

The Baton Rouge district’s $22 million was a 1.7 percent decrease year-over-year. L’Auberge Casino Hotel led the district with $14 million, dropping 6.6 percent compared to December 2023. The Queen of Baton Rouge generated $7.4 million, an increase of 8.8 percent, and the Belle of Baton Rouge reported revenue of $700,000, a decrease 0.5 percent.

Evangeline Downs Racetrack & Casino in St. Landry Parish generated revenue of $6.6 million, a year-over-year decrease of 0.3 percent.
