Argentina.- With the 2025 season underway after the launch of the first summer ball, uncertainty continues at the Casino de Necochea regarding what will happen with the complex.
During the summer season presentation event, Arturo Rojas, mayor of the seaside city, spoke about the delayed call for tenders to sell the casino and operate slots, something that workers have been requesting for a long time.
It is worth remembering that in May last year, the president of the Provincial Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC Buenos Aires), Gonzalo Atanasof, toured the Casino de Necochea with Mayor Rojas and workers of the complex, where they announced a new phase of joint work to tender the casino. At that time, they said that the slot machine tender for Necochea would include an investment in equipment and maintenance of the gaming room, and would go hand in hand with the tender of the complex by the municipality. The call was expected to be launched in October.
During his visit to the casino last Thursday, January 16, Rojas declared: "I hope this is the year in which the Province of Buenos Aires through the Institute can carry out the tender that we have been waiting for so long, not only from the municipality but also the workers, understanding that the file has already been circulated through the state agencies and today is in the Ministry of Economy."
According to the local media TSN Necochea, the municipal chief explained that from this key step, the document would be elevated to the Deliberative Council and added that it would allow, on one hand, "the reconstruction of a complex so dear to the feelings of all Necocheans and tourists who visit us, and on the other hand, to refunctionalize other sectors and make an urban development."
He also emphasized that "people know that this can no longer continue" and explained that the city had "quite a bit of patience" when waiting for the tender by the Province.
"We hope for progress in the coming months to be able to make a call for tenders in search of investors that allow the reconstruction and everything that it means in terms of labor and tourism to condition this complex that has been in decline for so many years," Rojas concluded.

On the other hand, Alberto Esnaola, a radical leader from Necochea, pointed out in communication with NEC Radio Fm 98.3 that the building should be demolished: "I am tired of being told that the building is recoverable. Who is going to put up the money for the refurbishment?", he declared.
For the opposition leader, the project for the refurbishment "totally lacks sense" and added: "Necochea has to preserve the gaming room, but in another place."
In this regard, Esnaola said on the Necochea radio that "the arrival of bingo to Necochea was a political decision that there would be no more casino in the district" and concluded: "This government promised a bridge and to make the casino, but no project was completed. Society should be allowed to debate what it intends to do with this space. It could be tendered to make a commercial and tourist complex."
In the context of the celebrations for the 85th anniversary of the Casino Central de Mar del Plata, the president of the Institute of Lottery and Casinos (IPLyC Buenos Aires), Gonzalo Atanasof, announced that "work is being done together with the Legislature in the approval of the bill for the regularization of contributions and the advancement of the tender documents that will guarantee the investment needed by the casinos."
In this regard, Roberto "Chucho" Páez, current general secretary of the Union of Administration, Housekeeping, and Services of the Provincial Casinos, confirmed to the Diario de Tandil that the tenders "are ready and will begin to circulate through the provincial control agencies", understanding that once they are completed, "it will strengthen the employment bond of the employees of the annexed casinos" and added: "The tenders are projected, approximately, for 20 years, allowing long-term planning for the employees."
