Kansas: December casino revenue drops by less than 1 percent year-over-year

Kansas casinos saw revenues fall by less than 1 percent year-over-year in December, with its four commercial casinos generating $37.1 million in revenue compared to $37.4 million the year prior.

According to the report from the Kansas Racing and Gaming Commission, electronic gaming machines generated $32.1 million, with table games accumulating the remaining $5 million.

Kansas Hollywood Casino & Resort generated the highest amount in December, collecting more than $14.9 million, a 1.3 percent year-over-year increase. The only other casino to report revenue growth for December was Kansas Crossing Casino & Resort, reporting a 5.5 percent rise from $3.3 million in December 2023 to $3.5 million in December 2024.

Kansas Star Casino & Resort and Boot Hill Casino & Resort reported revenue decreases compared to December 2023. Kansas Star Casino revenue dropped down by 3 percent from $14.9 million to $14.3 million. Boot Hill Casino revenues fell by 5.8 percent, from $4.3 million to $4.1 million.

Despite reporting a year-over-year decrease in December revenue, it ended up rising by more than 5 percent compared to November revenues.

The Sunflower State generated $35.3 million in revenue for November, making December 2024 a 5.2 percent month-over-month increase. Likewise, all four commercial casinos experienced revenue growth between November and December, with Kansas Star reporting the highest growth of more than 6 percent.
