Laos intensifies crackdown on telecom network fraud in the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone. Laotian police, in cooperation with Chinese police, arrested a target group of telecom fraudsters in Bokeo Province's Golden Triangle Special Zone, totaling 41 people, all of Chinese nationality.
Various crime tools and a certain amount of cash were also seized.
On January 12, 2025, the Laotian Police Department and the Public Security of the Golden Triangle Special Economic Zone, in collaboration with Chinese police, led a team to carry out an arrest operation against a telecom network fraud gang within the zone.
This operation resulted in the arrest of 41 suspects, all Chinese citizens. Seized items included 16 laptops, 93 mobile phones, 1 iPad, cash totaling 306,650 yuan, and other related items.
On January 16, 2025, the Chinese and Laotian police transferred the 41 suspects and related physical evidence at the Mohan-Boten International Border Crossing in Nanta Province.
