The cooperative organization Britbet Racing, composed of 55 British racecourses, announced the extension of its collaboration with the UK Tote Group, aimed at enhancing pool betting services.
The renewal agreement will take effect in November 2025 and last until October 2030, building on the existing partnership established in 2018.
Under the agreement, Britbet will continue to manage racecourse services, while Tote will oversee the consolidated operations. This integrated approach will consolidate the liquidity of most Britbet partner racecourses, including major racecourses under the Jockey Club and large independent racecourses.
It is worth noting: Although the agreement between Britbet and the UK Tote Group is firmly established, discussions with Arena Racing Company about the possibility of incorporating it into the cooperation framework are still ongoing.
This collaboration has facilitated several innovations, such as the Tote Guarantee launched in 2020, which ensures competitive pricing for winning bets. These developments have driven significant growth in the industry, with Britbet's racecourse turnover reaching £72 million ($88 million) in 2024, a 26% increase from the launch year.
According to reports, international cooperation remains a key component, with the World Betting Alliance playing a crucial role in revenue generation. Since its establishment in 2019, the World Betting Alliance has contributed over £50 million to British and Irish racecourses by pooling resources from the global betting market for high-profile events.
Britbet's General Manager Nigel Roddis stated: "The scope of daily pool betting services includes over 500 staff participating each day during the Cheltenham Festival, as well as meetings on weekday winter evenings where everyone knows each other."
This renewal of the partnership follows recent agreements in the racing sector, such as those with 1/ST and Goodwood Racecourse, aimed at enhancing liquidity, increasing fan engagement, and creating additional revenue streams for the sport.
