Pop-up ads on social media pose as Kansas casinos, but are actually scams

A new scam is emerging on social media, impersonating various casinos such as the Kansas Star, Winstar, and Prairie Band. These fraudulent ads can be found on Facebook feeds and utilize official logos and images of the casinos, falsely claiming that the casino is now online.

The ads promise a welcome bonus of up to $1,500 if individuals click on the website link at the bottom or download the casino’s app. However, a clear indication that these ads are scams is that the website listed is not the actual casino website.

For example, in a fake ad that FactFinder found on social media, the website provided for the Kansas Star Casino was kansas-star.com/ka.
