Phuket has always been one of Thailand's most promising tourist hubs, boasting rich natural resources and a unique geographical location.
In recent years, the Thai government has increased its investment in Phuket, aiming to transform it into a new engine to stimulate the Thai economy. Among many plans, Phuket is positioned as a target area for global casino giants and major capital, with specific results expected by the end of 2025.
In addition to the entertainment complex, Phuket is also preparing a "Bitcoin Sandbox" pilot to attract digital asset holders to spend and issue government bond-backed digital currencies to promote economic liquidity.
To build Phuket into a world-class luxury city for living and shopping, the government is expanding Phase II of Phuket International Airport, with an investment of $6.211 billion, scheduled for completion in 2029, by which time it will serve 12.5 to 18 million visitors annually.
Phuket's airport handles nearly 100,000 flights annually and has a private jet terminal that can accommodate flights from around the world.
Phuket will also construct several large infrastructure projects in the future, including the Karon-Patong Expressway, a second Phuket airport, and several new roads.
Meanwhile, Phuket is also seen as a world-class luxury shopping center. Recently, Central Phuket invested 1 billion Thai Baht to expand the luxury shopping area, adding 20,000 square meters of shopping center space with more than 15 brands.
Phuket's real estate market is also booming, with more than 10,000 units expected to be added from 2024, with a total project value exceeding 138 billion Thai Baht. The island has become a sought-after destination for global millionaires, with property prices increasing by 700%.
Phuket's advantages are not only in tourism and real estate but also include a wealth of high-end entertainment facilities, such as multiple superyacht marinas, world-class golf courses, Michelin-starred restaurants, and international schools.
These facilities will further promote Phuket as an international luxury tourist destination.
At the same time, Phuket also faces challenges such as water shortages, and solving these issues is crucial for the island's sustainable development. Nevertheless, Phuket remains a significant base for Thailand's development of the entertainment and digital asset industries, with great potential.
