This was revealed by the GRECOJOC report, the association of gaming halls in this region.

Spain.- On January 15, during the annual assembly of Gremi Català de Sales d’Oci i Noves Tecnologies del Joc (GRECOJOC), the association that groups the gaming halls in Catalonia, Xavier Salvadó Rovira, sub-inspector and head of the Central Unit for Gaming and Entertainment of the Mossos d’Esquadra, presented the results of the inspections carried out in 2024.

Salvadó Rovira reported that during the inspections of the year, no minors were detected in the gaming halls. This data is of great relevance, as it highlights the sector's commitment to integrity and compliance with current regulations.

The other findings from the inspections also revealed that there was a reduced number of recorded infractions. There were no reports of unauthorized access, and only one infraction related to non-compliance with established schedules was recorded, reflecting a high level of responsibility in the management of the establishments.

Although some problems with the documentation of the machines and failures in the records were detected, the small number of incidents demonstrates a general commitment to compliance with the legislation.

The lottery exceeded its annual goal by donating more than USD9.2m to social institutions.

Nicaragua.- The National Lottery of Nicaragua celebrated the start of the new year with good news, as it managed to reach and even exceed the target set for 2024 in terms of profits for social purposes.

With the delivery corresponding to December and an extra donation, the Nicaraguan lottery reached a historic figure of C$344m (USD9.3m) granted to the Ministry of Family, Adolescence and Childhood, and the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports.

The proposed goal from last year was C$294m (USD7.9m) aimed at strengthening the social programs promoted by the government of Nicaragua. Thanks to an additional resource delivery, they managed to issue a check for each institution for an amount of C$25m (USD673,930) more to establish a record figure of donations.

Virginia Molina, the general manager of the institution who took office in June 2023, stated: “We closed 2024 with great joy and satisfaction for fulfilling our commitment to Nicaraguan families, with this delivery of economic resources we improve the living conditions of athletes, children, and elderly adults continuing the restitution of rights promoted by our Christian, socialist, and solidarity model”.

She added: “We fulfilled our commitment to the social programs delivering the profits month by month, throughout 2024. We reached the goal thanks to the effort of everyone who buys the ordinary lottery, scratch cards, and Instacash games, as well as the work carried out by all our concessionaires day by day”.

Soon, the deliveries of profits corresponding to 2025 will begin and donations are expected to continue growing to continue supporting the Ministry of Family, Adolescence and Childhood (MIFAN), and the Nicaraguan Institute of Sports.
