The Thai government plans to mandate all foreign travelers entering Thailand to fill out a digital version of the TM6 entry form starting from May 1, 2025, replacing the existing paper form. This move follows the cabinet's announcement to temporarily suspend the use of the TM6 immigration form, aiming to enhance the efficiency of the entry process and the safety of tourists.
Natthriya Thaweevong, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, stated that the digital TM6 form would help better track tourists' activities in Thailand and enhance their safety trust. This new measure is expected to officially take effect after the suspension period ends on April 30.
The Thai government originally planned to impose a tourism fee of 300 Thai Baht, but it was not implemented as scheduled due to various reasons. Nevertheless, the introduction of the digital TM6 is a significant improvement to the existing entry process, aimed at reducing manual operations and simplifying procedures.
To ensure the smooth implementation of this reform, the Ministry of Tourism and Sports will hold a meeting on January 31 with stakeholders including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Tourism Authority of Thailand, airlines, hotels, and travel agencies to further understand the details of the online form and assist in promoting this new process.
Mongkon Wimonrat, the Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Tourism, emphasized that the digital TM6 form will be applicable to all foreign entrants, whether they enter by air, land, or sea, and all travelers must fill out this free form.
The plan is expected to be approved by the cabinet next month, at which time the relevant departments will be ready to implement it.
